Exploring Adaptive Comparative Judgement at KS3

As part of a collaboration with Merrick-Ed, I supported the development of a data-led approach to Adaptive Comparative Judgement (ACJ) during a national trial with E-ACT.

The pilot focused on assessing Key Stage 3 art across multiple schools using ACJ – a method that relies on expert judgements to compare student work, rather than traditional marking. My role involved developing early reporting prototypes in Power BI to help visualise outcomes and identify patterns across schools and cohorts.

By combining curriculum insight with structured data tools, this project demonstrated how ACJ can provide a richer, more reliable picture of student learning – especially in creative subjects where standardised assessment often falls short.
